Tire Science Sealant-Filled Inner Tube

This video will show you the easy way to repair and prevent punctures to your tire using the Tire Science Sealant-filled inner tube. The sealant will repair a puncture up to 1/8 of an inch wide. And remember, always be sure to wear protective eye wear when using this product.

 

WARNING:  This sealant should not be used on tires that move at speeds higher than 45 mph/75 kph. Sealant may cause excessive vibration in tires at high speeds.




Step 1: Locate the Leak

Inspect the tire and locate the leak.  Remove any object that has punctured the tire.  If the tire still has some air pressure in it, spraying soapy water on the tire will help you find the location of the puncture.  Be sure to mark this spot. 

 

Note: A hole in the sidewall of the tire cannot be repaired using this product.  Tire Science sealant-filled inner tubes will not seal sidewall punctures of leaks around the tire bead.  It should also not be used with faulty valves or damaged rims.

Step 2: Remove Valve Assembly Cap

Remove the valve assembly cap on the tire.  If the tire still has air in it, use a small screwdriver to press in on the valve core to release all of the air pressure from the tire.

Step 3: Break the Bead

Squeeze the tire in order to break the bead using vice pliers.

Step 4: Remove Entire Valve Assembly

Using channel pliers or locking pliers, remove the entire valve assembly out of the tire.  Place your hand behind the rim to grab the valve assembly when it is removed from the inside of the tire.

Step 5: Line up Inner Tube Valve with the Rim Hole

Take the Tire Science sealant-filled inner tube and line up the inner tube valve assembly with the hole in the rim.

Step 6: Insert Inner Tube

Carefully, push the inner tube into the inside of the tire. 

 

Note: You may want to use vice pliers to loosely hold the inner tube's valve assembly in place on the outside of the rim.

Step 7: Inflate Tire

Once the inner tube is fully inside the tire, inflate the tire to the recommended pressure.

Step 8: Replace Valve Cap

Don't forget to place the cap back on the valve stem.  It is recommended that you mount the tire back onto your unit and spin the tire on the axle for best sealant distribution.
